Home Visits

Doctor's bag

Home visits are for the housebound or for those whose illness itself prevents them from attending the surgery. Home visits will be carried out only when the doctor considers the medical condition of the patient makes this necessary. Generally speaking this would be when to travel to the surgery by car or taxi would endanger the patient's health. Adequate parking and a taxi "dropping off" point are available at the surgery to help patients in this respect. If possible try to ring between 08:15 and 10:30 if you think you need a home visit.

You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
